The police has taken major action in the Hathras stampede case. On Friday, UP Police arrested the main accused Dev Prakash Madhukar. Madhukar was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police from the country’s capital Delhi. After the Hathras stampede, a reward of one lakh rupees was announced on the main accused Madhukar. Today Madhukar will appear in Hathras court. Madhukar’s lawyer claims that Dev Prakash has surrendered.
It has been learnt that Madhukar surrendered at a hospital in Najafgarh-Uttam Nagar, Delhi. UP police had reached the hospital. After this, Madhukar surrendered. After the arrest, Hathras police is busy interrogating Madhukar.
The police have arrested seven people so far in the Hathras stampede case. On July 2, 121 devotees died in the stampede after the satsang of Suraj Pal alias Narayan Sakar Hari Bhole Baba in Fullerai Mughalgarhi village of Sikandarmau in Hathras. These included 112 women, 2 men, 6 boys and one girl.
All the bodies have been identified and the post-mortem process has been completed. A case has been registered in the matter under sections 105, 110, 126 (2), 223 and 238 of the Indian Penal Code. Earlier, six people have been arrested.
